Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) has announced that a total of 175 jobs have been planned over the coming years following the approval for financial support for a number of small businesses and start-up businesses in the county.

A €470,000 cash injection was announced by LEO Fingal through a number of its grant schemes aimed at supporting 56 small and start-up businesses.

The latest funding figures, announced last week, will also result in significant additional spending in the local economy, boosting the local supply chain.

Announcing the latest LEO investment of over €470,000 in small businesses in the first half of this year, LEO Fingal stated that 2019 has seen 'significant growth' in employment in the small business sector.

Cllr. Eoghan O'Brien, Mayor of Fingal; and AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, presented certificates to the successful businesses at an awards event in County Hall on July 1.

Companies were approved for business priming grants (for start-up businesses), innovation grants (feasibility study), business expansion grants, Trading Online Vouchers and Exporters' (TAME) grants.

Many diverse sectors featured among the approved businesses including: Industrial engineering suppliers; water monitoring and leakage detection systems; artificial intelligence project cost monitoring services for the construction industry; education technology applications to help people with dyslexia; online meal plans and ingredient delivery services; and hurley manufacturing among others.

Presenting certificates to each of the grant approved businesses, Cllr. Eoghan O'Brien, Mayor of Fingal, commented: 'I am delighted to see so many of our local businesses start-up and grow.

'Our economy continues to perform well, and the contribution of small businesses in terms of local job creation is very significant. LEO Fingal is at the forefront of ensuring that small businesses are given the environment they need to flourish.'

Oisin Geoghegan, Chair of the LEO Network and Head of Enterprise in Fingal, added: 'I encourage all prospective entrepreneurs, and existing local small businesses to engage with their LEO and avail of supports and resources available.

'In addition to funding grants, LEO Fingal offers plenty of industry-leading management training and innovative initiatives such as Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur and Brexit Customs workshops.'
